I made a "suit" brand, yet I don't wear suits.

I don’t wear suits. I haven’t since I started Batch. I’ve never considered myself a suit wearer either. The last proper suit I wore regularly was at school.

Yet somehow, I’m wearing a Batch every day. A “suit” brand that’s not actually a suit.

Paradoxical? Contradictory? Confusing. Maybe...

Let me explain.

What is a Batch “suit”?

For me, Batch is an outfit. Not a suit. At least not in the way you, we, I perceive what a suit is.

A suit is an outdated formality that we all consider to be smart, often a forced dress code or work protocol. The association between the word “suit” and its purpose is not what Batch, the brand or the product, represents.

“But why do you call it a suit then?”

An outfit. A set. A co-ord. A two-piece. None of them work. Trust me, we’ve had this conversation 100 times.

Despite the negative connotations associated with the word “suit”, it still carries a lot of positive gravity. A suit is what you wear when you want to look well turned-out, when you want to impress, when you need to look your best.

It’s also still a menswear product that’s highly in demand, despite the clear casualisation that’s happened over the last decade.

Ok, so it’s a casual suit?

Yeah. I guess it is. I can stomach that.

It lowkey must be a casual suit, as we rank no.1 on Google for that search term!?

Anyway, providing Batch can continue to show you why you need Batch in your wardrobe, I’m happy.

A casual suit, or in other words, a smart-casual outfit that you can wear when you need to look a little sharper. An outfit, or casual suit, that helps guys dress smart-casually. The dress code that we all struggle with.

It’s expensive to dress smart-casually well. It’s also difficult to look cool and smart at the same time.

That’s why most men need Batch in their wardrobe. It’s solving a problem.

I think the penny is starting to drop...

That’s right. You don’t wear suits. Nor do I.

But we all need to dress smart-casually well, right?

Be that at work, parties, networking events, weddings, dates, the pub, sports fixtures, birthday parties, even jumping on Zoom. We need to look good and respectable all the time.

“Yeah, but we’re not going to wear a suit for most of these life activities, are we...?”

Quite right, but you might want a Batch casual suit, aka an outfit, in your wardrobe that you can turn to.

“I like the sound of that. How should I style a casual suit?”

Great question! It’s almost as if I wrote that?

The short answer is however you want.

You can style a casual suit with a T-shirt and a pair of trainers. You can wear just the jacket with jeans. You can wear just the trousers with a shirt. A Batch casual suit can even be styled with a shirt, tie and loafers!

There’s the crazy contradiction of our beautiful product again. It can be worn how you want, when you want and where you want.

Dressed smart, casually or anywhere in between.

You can dress in a casual suit without feeling or looking like you’re wearing a suit. Yet you’ll look smart, be respected, look well turned-out and look like you care about your appearance.

Without feeling stuffy, overdressed, overly formal or uncomfortable.

It’s literally the best of both worlds.

The traditional suit, for the most part, has died. But the need to dress smart-casually has never been more significant.
